Where was your ceremony and reception held?
It was at Pembroke Lodge in Richmond, and this was special because Richmond was where we had our first date and we had some lovely times there.
Tell us about your Love Story:
We both love music so for our first date we went somewhere that played supposedly people aged good music, which turned out to be total pants, so we just walked and talked for hours. The only thing I didn’t like was Gary’s shoes that he wore – not a deal breaker!
What about your outfits?
I wore a Enid Wtoo gown by Watters. I chose this gown because it was classic and elegant, which is not what I though I would go for as I like the whole boho look, however it worked. Gary wore a Hugo Boss suit, which was a huge step away from the Rock Tees and converse, he always looks handsome in a suit.
Tell us about what your squad wore:
Our bridesmaid wore dresses from ASOS with shoes from Marks and Spencers.
Talk us through your wedding decor:
We wanted a midsummers night dream look, very green and natural. We also wanted to have arrangements that had multiple use to cut down on waste. The bridal bouquet was used on the ceremony table, which was green foliage and some small white flowers. Fresh White and Greens with gold accents. Mix of wild and natural interesting and textured foliages, twisted willow, Green bell, Thistle, Euchalyptus, White Veronica, Herbs, Scabious, Ammi Majus, Amarathus. The aisle candles were filled with moss and the used as centrepieces. We used succulents as name places and favours. We chose these because we wanted guest to go home with something they would have to continue to care for and each time they did they would have memories of the part they played in making our day. The button holes were white thistle. We mixed all of our family and friends up, as it’s easy to sit within your comfort zone and wanted people to mix, which worked so well. Our wedding cake was made by our friend which meant so much on the day.
What was your plan for the ceremony?
I used to be a DJ, We love music and regularly go to gigs. We decided that as our tastes are so eclectic we would have a bit of everything. Whilst guest were arriving we had quartet music playing of covers like Pink floyd, Blacksabath, Fleetwood Mac, The Game of thrones theme tune etc, etc. I walked down the isle to Jimi Hendrik, Foxy Lady and we signed the register to a cover by Jasmine Thompson of sweet child of mine, as Gary is a huge fan of Guns N Roses. We played no where to run to by Martha Reeves and the Vandellas. The reading we chose was the lyrics to Led Zeppelins Thank you. We wanted a relaxed vibe and we felt the music reflected that. Our favourite part of the ceremony was walking in with Harry and Megan masks. My not so favourite bit was Gary emphasising my middle name Cordelia. I loved that my brother walked me down the isle, he made me laugh so much!
What was your plan for the reception?
The plan for the reception was again relaxed. But huge emphasis again on music. I loved the fact that my great nephew was teaching Gary’s uncle Warren how to floss. We loved the music, the Dj was fabulous. We purposely mixed every table so people got to know each other as Our families hadn’t met. We wanted everyone, including people we hired for the day to be a part of it and feel comfortable.
How did you find working with me?
We can’t thank you enough Rowan. We didn’t want stuffy, formal, uncomfortable pictures. It was so natural and organic and happy and colourful. You captured us, all of our friends and family to perfection. You captured the happiness and the vibe of the day. Have to say meeting you was one of our favourite parts. You made the whole process easy, so glad you were there to enjoy it with us.
What entertainment did you have?
We hired a magic mirror and encouraged EVERYONE to take snaps. It did kind of get messy at the end, we loved it!
What’s your planning advice for other couples getting married?
Accept the things you can’t change, embrace the day and the planning. The wedding car, with the groom and best man were involved in an accident on the way to the venue. No one was hurt but it really puts it into prospective. Don’t stress about the little things, be greatfull for everything and everyone. Do it how you want it. Choose florists, photographers etc because you like their work and allow them to do what they do best. Have fun, take time enjoy the day, don’t worry about people enjoying themselves, they make their own fun.
